Tried and Tested: candle Jewels

Saturday, 31 August 2013

Usually I will not buy candles as my mother and I actually make pure soy wax candles ourselves and sell them.  But this is something totally different and such a great idea, and concept.
Candle Jewels are a company that have brought candles and a girls bestfriend together. No I am not talking about people, or chocolate but more like a little bling on your finger J That is right in every single candle bought from Candle Jewels you get a complementary ring valued no less then $30 and going all the way up to $7,000.

Although I am not completely sure how you would get the price of the ring, unless you went to the jeweller to have them valued. But for me I don’t mind, I get my monies worth and the smell of these candles is worth every cent, and the ring is just a huge added bonus.

I will admit burning my first candle I wished it would just hurry up, so I could see the ring…. But I waited and waited and waited, but no matter how long I waited the candle just kept burning.  I had this candle burning for three days on and off, but got about 135hrs from it.  But when you do eventually get down to the bottom you will find a little foil wrapped ring. Inside that foil you will also find a tiny zip lock bag, so every ring never comes in contact with the wax. Then after you peel off the little zip lock you will find your beautiful ring, safe and un-touched.

The smell that filled my entire house just by burning the one candle in the lounge room was amazing. I was sent two different scent and they were Tropical Paradise and also Fairy Floss.

Tropical Paradise was purple and had the most amazing smell I have ever smelt before and will be buying more come Summer time J The main scent I love in this would have to be the pineapple.

Fairy Floss was my favourite by far and was super sweet and wasn’t sickening sweet but more the smell your nose is greeted with at the circus or the Melbourne Show. I do love this so much, and cannot wait to buy these for my friends and family as gifts.

My mums birthday is coming up in a few weeks and I had no idea what to buy her, but now I know exactly what to get her and KNOW she will love it loads. And I can remain her FAVOURITE daughter hehehe (only kidding if your reading this.)

These are the rings I received in my candles
People often ask Candle Jewels how they can afford to put such expensive rings in our candles. The truth is, they buy their rings wholesale and in bulk, so they are able to give you quality jewellery. In every candle you will find a ring valued over $30, over $100, over $200, over $500, over $1000, over $2000 or all the way up to $7000.

All of their candles are hand-made and presented in a fine hand-blown glass jar. They also use quality soy wax and dyes to create candles that look almost too good to light - but once you do, the beautiful scents will make you glad you did.

The candles are approximately 1.2kg. As their glass jars are hand-blown, each one is slightly different - all are approximately 16cm high with a 9cm diameter. The average burn time of our candles is 120 hours.

Early Daddy's Day Present- Silver Bullet Metro Rechargeable Hair Trimmer

LATE FATHER’S DAY GIFT IDEA- And also an early one for the Daddy of this home!

Last year I bought my Mr M (My partner and my girls Dad) a body trimmer as he like to keep it clean… I don’t want to embarrass him too much, and know he doesn’t read my blog, but the only hair he keeps is on his head and under his arms. The rest he doesn’t like having.
The body trimmer I bought for him last year was not the best one, and now being a year old has gotten really slow and even beginning to pinch him. I know his not getting a good trim out of this as I have noticed he has the Winter Coat going on, and just uses it hear and there!

So when I saw this land in my inbox, it gave me the perfect idea on what to get him… But it turns out I was gifted it and just told him it was an early present with a few other things to follow on Father’s Day (Totally in the good books now haha.) But Shhhushh this is our little secret and for him to NEVER find out. “THIS” of course is the:

Silver Bullet Metro Rechargeable Hair Trimmer
RRP from $59.95

The Silver Bullet Metro Rechargeable Hair Trimmer features 4 attachment combs for every

desired hair length including 12.7mm (1/2”), 6.3mm (1/4”), 3.2mm (1/8”) and 1.5mm (1/16”). The Silver Bullet Metro also includes lubricating oil and a cleaning brush. The blade is detachable allowing for easy peasy cleaning.
The reason for giving it to him for an early Father’s Day present is because sneakily I wanted to pop in a little review before Father’s Day came so Mummies out there can see what they are like and if it is up their alley for the Daddies in their lives.

He gave it a go last night as he is going for the shabby stubble look, but can’t stand the feeling on his neck when it starts to get hairy. So he gave it a go, and the first sign of excitement in his eyes was as soon as he turned it on and it buzzed away. The first one he owned NEVER, ever sounded this good even on his first use. It was done within a minute and there were no red marks or anything.

Actually I was so surprised at how quickly he trimmed his entire body hair off. I love that it doesn’t take long, because it means I can get in the shower and bathroom quicker.

One big plus he liked was that it has different heads for the trimmer, meaning he doesn’t have to shave it down to the skin. And come Summer and the festival season I have found h actually likes to grow a bit of a longish beard… I know that doesn’t make sense and you would think in Winter you would want a beard to keep your face warmer not in Summer when it is already hot haha; MEN!

Spring has Sprung

Today marks the last day of Winter, although I would not have known it if I had gone by the weather. It was a lovely sunny 22 degrees today and my entire family hit the town in tees and shorts, it was quite nice. This Winter has not been a very cold one though, which has made me quite sad as I am very much a Winter girl rather then a Summer hot weather girl.  I find it so much easier to get warmer then I do to cool myself down, plus I love cold nights because I need to sleep with a blanket (security issues.)

Over this coming weeks I will be pumping some posts through with some Spring Scents and some new Spring makeup. With the changing of seasons come a lot of other changes such as perfume, clothing, makeup and even nail polish. You will see this entire transition on my blog, and hopefully see me sporting a nice tan. I love how things become a lot brighter and lighter, this is my main love for the hotter season.

I have also noticed all the lovely blooms that have popped their heads out in the warmer weather. Our street is full of big cherry blossom trees, so taking a drive down it is stunning… But for me and my car it can get a little bit of pain in the you-know-where as it looks like some one went to town with the confetti on it.

Oh, oh, ohhh how could I forget.. with Spring also comes the SPRING RACING CARNIVAL!!! Yay, I get excited just saying it as it means I get an excuse to frock up and strut my stuff on the turf (and hopefully walk out more of a winner then a loser haha.)

Well time to get started on my first post

The Beauty Choice That’s Good For You and The Planet!

I have been looking for a good set of face brushes to use in photos, and to make my makeup look the best that it can.
Today I found, and was lucky enough to be able to try out and review the wonderful brushes from ecochoice. Last week we had a causality in the brush departments and my mac blush brush took a turn for the worst and lost it bristles haha. So when looking for new brushes I wanted something that was tough and would last longer then 9months… So hopefully these do the trick.

I like to look after the environment where I can, but also looking after myself. So it is good to know the ecochioce brushes take care of the environment while taking care of my face. Comprised of gorgeously soft cosmetic brushes, brush kits, indulgent bath accessories, clever grooming kits and delicious body products you can now go green and give back – all while pampering yourself at the same time!
All EcoTools products are cruelty-free, made from natural, sustainable and recycled materials, are Paraben and Phthalate free, plus they are not tested on animals.

The brushes have taklon bristles.
Ferrule (which is the little metal bit that clamps the bristles onto the handle) that is made from recycled aluminum reducing landfill waste.
And then the handle made from bamboo, a renewable source that can grow up to three feet per day, which means there is plenty to go around. It is a vital non-timber, non-petroleum resource with strength comparable to steel!

For review I was sent a 6 Piece Bamboo Brush Set, which to be honest I think is all you need. When I first bought my massive full set of brushes from MAC I thought it was the coolest thing I had ever bought.. Then a year later I realised I didn’t even use a third of the brushes that were sent in this pack.

In this kit there was:
Blush Brush                                          Lash and Brow Groomer
Eye Shading Brush                                Concealer Brush
Eyeliner Brush                                      Cosmetic Bag
                          RRP: from $4.95 to $25.95

Blush Brush
Is a beautifully size brush that I find I can use all over my face not just as a blush brush. I kind of pinch the bristles together so I can use my definition powder on my nose and outer face. Also I do use it with my bronzer and all over powder foundation, the smaller bristle face really doesn’t bother me too much.
Lash and Brown Groomer
Is so soft to use yet really puts them brow hairs in their spaces. The brush end also does not have a huge curve either like some I have used before which end up digging into the skin above my brow. This was perfect though and I don’t have a negative thing to say about it.
Eye Shading Brush
This is a general eye brush and can be used on the entire lid of your eye and then onto the creases with a contrasting shadow. I often use this brush and this brush alone on my eye, and it does a great job. One thing I have noticed with these brushes is how soft the bristles are and how silky they are on your face.
Eyeliner Brush
This can be used with eyeliner but also to add some dark shading to your brows to fill in any spaces and give a more defined look. One thing I love doing with this brush is using a very dark gun metal grey shadow, or even black and then patting it along my lash line to really frame and add depth to my eye.
Concealer Brush
This is similar to the Eye Shading brush but the bristles have a different colour, and also is a lot more flatter the shading brush. You use the tip of the brush to apply the concealer and then the bottom more fanned out part to blend it into your skin. Before using this brush I had never really used a brush to apply concealer but just used my fingertips. I know even with brushes I shall be applying my liquid foundation with my hands, as I don’t think there is a better finish. But concealer I will only ever use a concealer brush, this concealer brush.

And of course there is the adorable Cosmetic Bag that comes with this set; I love it. There is room to one side of this little pocket looking bag to put some of your make up (not much though.) And then the other side has your brushes. You then fold it in half and use the little valcro tab to close it shut. It has a very natural look to it as well, which really sets the whole thing together.
