My
absolute favourite thing in Spring is the Spring Racing Carnival. For us it
means BBQ’s and race days as well as dressing up to actually attend the races.
One
thing I admire with the Horse Racing fashion scene is that generally it is
unacceptable to have a skimpy dress and everything hanging out everywhere-
generally there’s an unwritten rule to keep it classy with the Spring feel.
Firstly I want to start things off with a big shout out to Priceline for having me as their guest on the day. I wouldn't have been able to come along and meet such a beautiful bunch of people if it weren't for them.
To keep in theme I decided that I would also attempt my own makeup only using "drug store" brands, which to be quite frank if you ask me Priceline Pharmacy stocks incredible brands that I wouldn't label drug store and quality stacks up against some of the major "high end" brands.
My look was created using the likes of 1000hour, L'Oreal, Nude by Nature, Australis, Models Prefer and Rimmel. I used the L'Oreal Masterfix to set my makeup and I swear to you I was still removing make up the next morning- this stuff glues it to your face. You can check out Priceline Pharmacy and their range by clicking HERE.
So
this year I thought I would go really Spring feel, think florals and nudes and
that is the look I was going for.
With
the help from some amazing brands and contacts my look was made possible, and I
felt incredible.
Lets
start with the dress-
Dress-
Forever New $129
This
is the first time I have worn a flow type dress to the races. The under part
was white fitted and then had the V cut floral chiffon that draped low at the
back.
So comfortable and easy to move around in, which is a must for a day at the races.
Katya Komarova Headpiece
- $150
This
is one of the pieces that tied together my entire outfit of the day together in
my opinion. So it is a leather band with lace detailing and I like to think of
it as my Spring crown- Queen Elsa of Spring eat your heart out.
Clutch-
Charlie Middleton 91 in nude $99
Made
locally in Sydney this soft to touch small clutch was a dream to carry around.
I have never been a massive clutch person, but since receiving this clutch I
have actually ditched the handbag and this is all I carry around with me.
I
wish I could put a material sample here for you to touch as words will not and
cannot do this piece any justice.
One
thing I love is that when buying a Charlie Middleton piece your supporting
local business and staying ashore.
Sunnies-
Designer
look sunnies without the designer price tag, which suits me perfectly as I am
forever loosing and misplacing my sunnies. My favourite were the Bella Blue
sunnies, which you can find here.
Accessories
- Lovisa
I
am a firm believer in affordable accessories as I almost never wear the same
piece twice unless the outfit suits. So the morning before the Caulfield
Guineas I decided to go down to Lovisa and pick up a few bits and pieces, which
included a necklace and a bracelet.
Heels-
Betts Squad Nude $80
These
are current season and I wanted a pair I could wear more then once, otherwise
it is just a waste. Things like a dress you really cant wear more then once,
like if you have been seen/photographed in a dress I feel it rules it out for
future events.
I
love these as you can dress them up or down and they were incredibly
comfortable and didn’t even think to take them off once.
