At Home Hair | Clairol nice'n easy

Clairol Nice & Easy

It has been a long time since I even attempted to colour my own hair at home. I think to be precise your looking at around 7 years since I applied any sort of colour to my hair. This is due to the fact that I was scared and had no idea what I was doing.

I have always had bad experiences when doing my hair at home and wondered why it always went wrong for me. For starters the first place I went wrong is not using an ash based product, my hair reacts to non ash products and turns a red tint almost every single time.

Then another reason where I was going wrong is NEVER getting enough product for my thick, long hair and running short which for me meant patchy hair.

Before

For about three years now I have had a sandy blonde shade of hair colour with highlights through it.

Coming into Winter and the cooler months almost always warrants for a darker shade of hair and the Summer locks go. But I ALWAYS go to the hairdressers to have this done.

Lately the hair salon just has not worked for me as the kids are getting older and Madison wants to get into EVERYTHING. So I have had to take the dive and try an at home colour.

Luckily I had a little help from my beautiful partner Matt, who happily applied the colour (think this was more for bragging rights.) But, I will give him credit where credit is due- he did a good job!

After

So the colour that I used on my hair was the Clairol Nice & Easy in 114 Natural Light Ash Brown.
You can see in the photos I did use three bottle to be sure, and honestly 2 bottles just would not have been enough for my hair. And I would always recommend having too much then not enough when it comes to hair colour.

The products smell unlike others I have smelt is not over powering and not strong (burn your nostril hairs strong.)

One thing I LOVE about this at home kit is the conditioner that came with it and how amazing if left my hair feeling and smelling. It is about day 8 into my hair colour and I have noticed then ends drying out quite a bit so I might throw a good treatment into it and see if that helps.

I will have to get back to you on whether or not the colour lasts the 8 weeks like it says on the box.

All in all I was very happy with my hair and it is the first time I have jumped out of the shower after colouring my hair and being really happy with the results. I will continue to colour my hair at home and just get highlights in salon.

What are your thoughts on my change, do you prefer me blonde or brunette?
